What we hold about you, and what we do with it
Short version: you can read every page here without telling us who you are. We hold what you type into a form yourself, plus visit numbers from Google Analytics that do not name you, and none of it is sold or handed to an advertiser.

What you give us on purpose
Four forms on this site collect something. Each one is listed here with exactly what it holds.
The newsletter box
Your email address. Nothing else, no name and no preferences. It is stored on the site and used to send the occasional note about new codes and guides. Reply to any of those asking to come off and the address is deleted.
Reporting a code that failed
The store, the code, what happened at checkout, and an email address if you leave one. The address is optional and only used to answer you. Leave it out and the report still counts.
The store application
Store name, the site you sell on, a contact name, an email address, what you make and the code you want to offer, plus whatever you write in the message box.
If the store gets listed, the parts that belong on a public listing are published, which means the store name, the link and what you make. Your own name and email are not published.
The contact form
Your name, your email address and your message. Used to reply and nothing else. Do not put payment details or anything confidential in it.
What arrives on its own
The company hosting this site keeps ordinary server logs, the same as every website: the address your request came from, roughly when it arrived, which page it asked for, and which browser asked. Those logs exist to keep the site up and to spot attacks. We do not build profiles out of them and we do not link them to anything you have typed.
Google Analytics also runs on this site, switched on through Google Site Kit. It counts visits: which pages are opened, how a visitor arrived, such as from a Pinterest pin or a search, roughly which country and city the visit came from, and whether it was a phone or a computer. We use those numbers to see which pages are useful.
What we see are totals and trends, not people. Google Analytics does not show us your name, your email address or anything you typed into a form, and we do not try to connect a visit to a person. Google collects and processes that data under its own privacy policy.
To keep your visits out of it, install Google's opt out add-on, or block cookies for this site in your browser settings. The site works the same either way.
Voting on a code
The worked and did not work buttons on a code card add one to a counter on that code. No name, no address, no account. We can see that a code failed nine times today, which is the point, and we cannot see who pressed anything.
What we do with it
The email address from the newsletter is used to send the newsletter. The details on a report are used to recheck a code and to answer you if you asked for an answer. An application is used to decide whether to list a store and to build the listing. A contact message is used to write back. Analytics totals are used to see which pages people find useful and which need work.
Nothing you type into a form is sold, rented or passed to a data broker. No advertising network gets any of it. We do not send your email address to a store, and a store cannot buy the list.
Where it is kept
In the site's own WordPress database, on the hosting account, behind an admin login. A copy of each form submission also arrives as an email at hello@justgetdeal.com. Exports are occasionally taken as a spreadsheet file, kept on a personal machine rather than uploaded anywhere.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter addresses stay until you ask to come off, then they are deleted rather than marked inactive.
- Reports are kept while the code they concern is still relevant, and cleared out after that.
- Applications from stores we list are kept for as long as the listing exists. Applications we turn down are deleted within a year.
- Contact messages are kept while a conversation is open and deleted once it is finished.
- Analytics data is kept by Google for the retention period set on our Analytics account, then deleted automatically.
Other companies involved
Very few, and none of them are paid to know anything about you.
- The hosting company, which runs the server the site sits on and keeps the logs described above.
- The email provider that carries the newsletter and the messages from the forms.
- Google, which runs Google Analytics and receives the visit data described above.
- Google Fonts and Fontshare, which serve the two typefaces the site uses. A browser asking them for a font file reveals the same thing any web request reveals, including the address it came from.
- Affiliate networks and the stores themselves, once you click a link out. From that point you are on their site under their policy.
What you can ask us for
Write to hello@justgetdeal.com and ask for any of this:
- A copy of everything held about you.
- A correction, if something is wrong.
- Deletion. Say the word and it goes, unless the law says a record has to be kept.
- An explanation of where a particular detail came from.
There is no form to fill in and no proof of identity beyond writing from the address in question. Expect an answer within a few days rather than the month the law allows.
Children
This site is for adults buying fixtures for a house. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly hold anything about one. If a child's details reached us through a form, write and they will be deleted.
Changes to this page
When the site starts collecting something new, this page says so before the form goes live, and the date at the top changes. Old versions are not kept online.
